SIDE QUEST / HARDWARE
No battery. Still curious.
Reviving an old Android phone with a new way to stay powered.
A second life, plugged in.
I made an old Android phone work without its battery, using always-on USB-C power and a buck converter. It became a small hardware experiment in reusing something I already had.
Follow the question.
Could this device still be useful if the part that aged out was no longer in the way? That was the question behind this side quest. I like projects where a little investigation opens up an unexpected possibility.
Sometimes the next experiment is already sitting in a drawer.
